New guidance has been published online to improve the safety of motorcyclists.
The Institute of Highway Incorporated Engineers (IHIE) has put together a package of information on a dedicated website.
It is hoped that the material will be used by planners to inform road safety measures and parking arrangements.
"This website makes the excellent IHIE motorcycling guidelines available to the widest possible audience," said road safety minister Jim Fitzpatrick.
"Projects like this show the real benefits of the Government's motorcycling strategy, which has brought together a range of expert groups all working towards making motorcyclists safer."
Motorcyclists are more likely to be involved in a serious accident than other road users.
They make up just one per cent of the traffic on Britain's roads but account for 20 per cent of the deaths and serious injuries.
