Matt Dillon charged with speeding

Matt Dillon could see the cost of his car insurance rise, after the star of the hit film Crash was charged with speeding.

Police revealed the Hollywood actor was driving at 106mph on a road in Vermont in the United States on December 30th.

The speed limit of the road is 65mph.

Officers told the police station that Dillon, who lives in New York, was driving a rented 2009 Chevy Impala.

Mug shots have been released of the 44-year-old who was scheduled to appear before Orange Court on January 21st.

If the US celebrity is found guilty he could face a £150 fine and up to three months in prison.

Matt Dillon received an Oscar nomination for his role in Crash.

He had a relationship with Cameron Diaz, with whom he starred in the comedy There's Something About Mary.

Although one speeding conviction is unlikely to prohibit someone from taking out car insurance, it can increase the cost of cover for a number of years.
