AN AGE OLD CONCERN FOR BRITISH DRIVERS
UK drivers identify the biggest threat on Britain’s roads.
With the likes of George Michael, Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton making the headlines for bad behaviour behind the wheel, you’d be forgiven for thinking that people driving ‘under the influence’ would be considered one of the biggest threats on today’s roads.
However, according to a new league table from motorinsurance.co.uk, older drivers were ranked a higher threat than those on drugs or those using hand held mobile phones whilst driving.
A leading online insurance broker has compiled a list of the biggest threats on today’s roads. Whilst understandably, aggressive and drunk drivers were amongst the top answers; it would seem the idea of ‘respect your elders’ goes out the car window whilst out on the road.

Women drivers 8th
Drivers using their mobile phones whilst behind the wheel were also identified as potential pile-up candidates, whilst young drivers were given a wide berth.
Women generally, were not considered a major threat by other drivers, unless they were ranked as ‘travelling beauticians’; who are more likely to be caught reapplying make-up, brushing their hair or reapplying lip gloss than checking their rear view mirror.
Paul Cosh, managing director for motorinsurance.co.uk, comments: “Anyone impaired whilst driving is a serious threat to other motorists, whether it’s because they are under the influence of alcohol or drugs, using a phone, doing make-up or having slower reaction speeds due to their age. It’s important that driver’s remember that they are not only responsible for their own safety, but also the safety of others on the road.
Just imagine how you would feel if you were the cause of a major accident, because you were reapplying make-up or talking on your mobile phone.”
